2017: “Fat & unfit” for 38 years & heading towards my 60th, a couch potato, binge drinker & suffering the side effects of simply abusing my health I was self-destructing & justifiably given the RED CARD, it was time to get my sh*t together!

HITT was a family referral, which I met with sceptism as "just another gym" because I had been there & done it several times before but curiosity still got the better of me & an appointment was made to see Clayton who encouraged me to join immediately, to Clayton’ point “When is it the right time to make a commitment to yourself?” boy does he have a sense of humour <3 weeks before Xmas 2017!?

Well why wait for another New Year’s Resolution just to fail yet again? THANK YOU Clayton I will forever be indebted to you & HIIT for putting me on the right path to a healthier lifestyle & destroying the negative comments from some friendly quarters "you’re mad, it won't last" just what I needed, a subliminal challenge!

DAY 1: Thursday 7 Dec 2017 - fast forward 2 years

Any regrets? ONLY 1, not joining HIIT years ago to change my mindset from "How do I lose weight" to "How do I improve my health"

All our coaches are extremely knowledgeable & what I started to grasp was the simplistic rule of RATIOS: CALORIE/EXERCISE INPUT vs OUTPUT. How often we start this journey & think we know it all yet “fail” after a few weeks, become despondent by our slow progress or lack thereof & want to give up – don’t!!

Who are we to judge our progress? Go see 1 of the coaches & let them align your goals & objectives so that you are rewarded for consistency, to my MELKBOS LOCAL you are testimony to this & I salute you Clive for the progress that you have made, for having the courage to introspect on what you were doing well & what needed to improve, that simple little app My Fitness Pal - best investment ever!

One of my friends from my son’s school had done a 28 day challenge and was looking great, so I decided to give it a try for myself..

In September of last year, I arrived at HIIT feeling incredibly depressed. I had thankfully just received the all clear from some biopsy results but had put on a large amount of weight due to all the medication I was now required to take. I would look in the mirror and not recognize the person staring back at me. I tried to find the ‘zip’ to this body I was now living in, to unzip it and step out of it! I used to be a professional dancer and being fit and active were a daily part of my life, and now I was lethargic and depressed and felt like my cup was literally empty. I was dragging myself through each day. I met with Luthando and shared my story, ending up in tears in his office. He promised me that together with some focus, commitment and the 6-week program, he could help me to find myself again! I have now been at HIIT for a year and 3 months and have lost almost 10kgs!

I have made Fitness Sisters and Brothers along the way and I feel proud of the hard work I have put in and the results I have achieved thus far. I will continue this journey as it now simply a way of life for me. My daily motto is “Wake; Pray; Sweat; Slay”.

One of the things I remember most in my very first meeting with Luthando was signing a contract that said that you promised to come into class each day with a positive attitude – and that there is the secret to the HIIT Fitness Family. The positive energy that everybody brings to each class, each day!!

No matter how you are feeling, what the scale says, or how your pants fit, you commit to coming in with a smile on your face and to giving everything that you have for 30 minutes. And by the time you have finished your class, your adrenaline is pumping and you honestly feel like a better version of yourself from the one that walked in the door. Our fearless leader JP and his inspiring team of coaches - Luthando, Clayton, Keelan and Josh are our biggest cheerleaders, believing in us, helping us to believe in ourselves by challenging us and motivating us to do more – “One by One!”

Everyone is there to better themselves and we all support one another, by encouraging each other, motivating each other with the very best of intentions, with grace, grit and sheer determination. Quite simply we trust the process and know that we are all a work in progress!

I would and I do recommend HIIT to everyone! HIIT has helped me find myself again. It fills my cup everyday and I truly feel like I am living my best life. Because I am happier within myself, I am a better mother, wife, daughter, friend, employee. I know that as I am growing older, I am doing all that I can, and I commit to be a fitter, stronger and healthier so that I will be around for a long time!

"Hooray!🥳 At 51 I found my why!!! I’ll get back to that in a sec.

I joined HIIT in October 2018, the gym and coaches were highly recommended by a few of my friends. And they all seriously understated how super amazing everyone is!😁 Shortly after joining I had a small surgery then it was the silly season and and and! I started a 6 week challenge straight after Easter 2019 and did really well. I felt better, looked better and was way fitter. I injured my knee and had to take a 6 week break from gym, travelled abroad and then just like that it was the silly season all over again!

Jan 2020 felt good I was ready to get back at it, we travelled abroad in February so myself and two other fit fam ladies agreed to start a 6 week challenge on 1 March.

I started with gusto then came Covid and a gazillion days of lockdown.

I think for me (a bit of a control freak) controlling my lifestyle with regards to eating and exercise literally got me through the most stringent levels of lockdown along with our amazing coaches and fit fam. 🤗 THANK YOU X infinity HIIT fitness for all your hard work and dedication, coming up with the goods 6 days a week with challenging online workouts, letting us into your homes (literally) weekly vids, challenges and always there for help and guidance, whilst navigating uncharted waters with us, experiencing the same/similar stresses and concerns. I appreciate you all more than you know.

BC (Before Covid) I used to workout at the gym x5 days a week but during lockdown that has increased to x6 and I have my husband along for support (he’s loving it and enjoying the gains)🏋️

Covid gave me the time to ‘do the work’ I am a lot kinder to myself and allow myself to celebrate non scale victories because if you know me you know that I’m not a fan of the scale.

Back to my why : CONFIDENCE!!!!!!!!💪

As I lost weight and centimeters I finally started to feel a little more confident and eventually when it was ok to go out more I didn’t cringe seeing my reflection in a mirror - yes I know that sounds harsh and dramatic but it’s my truth.💁‍♀️

From 1 March to October I’ve lost in excess of 25kgs and many many centimeters.

I get it now, finally, it took awhile but here it is : discipline and consistency = freedom!!!!! it’s honestly as SIMPLE and as HARD as that! (Read that again) 500% worth it, no shortcuts no excuses, fall in love with the process and it’ll love you right back.💗

Google ‘above and beyond’ and there you will find HIIT Fitness.

Thank you to JP and your incredible, dedicated fabulous team, you have changed my life!!!!!!!! 🏆"
